Menopause       Mind     Body     Everyone else     Mental Health

Menopause is a stage in life that will affect EVERYONE!

Either they are female, and their bodies will undergo this change, or because they are related, close, live with or work with a female who will undergo this change.

We are lucky to live in a society that is becoming more aware and more sympathetic in nature towards this time in a woman’s life, thanks to the wonderful Divina Mccall and prolific experts and doctors such as Dr Louise Newson.

Menopause is actually only 1 day in a woman’s life. The day she hasn’t had a bleed for 12 months.

Before this day, and potentially for many years before, she is perimenopausal.

After this day she is postmenopausal.

During the perimenopausal years, a woman's estrogen and progesterone levels fluctuate, just like during puberty. When these hormones are out of whack, the body goes haywire both physically and emotionally.

There are many symptoms associated with menopause, hot flushes are the classic, but that is often the most manageable as they are expected.

What comes as a bit of a surprise is the ANXIETY!

Panic attacks, weight gain, low mood, exhaustion, mind fog, depression, insomnia, lack of confidence, low libido, aching limbs and joints.

Other glorious symptoms such as racing hearts, night sweats, irritability, vagina dryness, hair loss, memory loss, dizziness, incontinence, bloating are all very common.

And lets not forget, brittle nails, body odour, breast pain, irregular periods, headaches, burning mouth, gum disease, sensations of electric shocks, digestive issues, itchy skin, muscle tension and tingly limbs.

Can be a bit of a tough ride for all concerned! Hypnosis can help control the triggers and their symptoms gently.

Clinical hypnotherapy has been shown to be effective in reducing many of the symptoms of menopause, including hot flashes, brain fog, and fatigue. Hypnosis can improve many aspects of life including sleep quality, reducing anxiety, and happiness levels.

The prescribing of hormone replacement therapy is still considered controversial, and many women opt not to choose HRT for health and personal reasons. Even on HRT, women often still struggle with their symptoms.

"Only hormone therapy, which many women can’t take or want to avoid, is more effective for treating the most common symptom of menopause. If you compare this treatment with off-label use of antidepressants or other non-hormonal therapies, it works as well or better,” Gary R. Elkins PhD
